This is consistent within the network area
5. Does the system provide realtime corrections and ability to access RINEX data for post processing ?
YES, the real-time corrections are available 24/7 & RINEX data can be accessed through our reference data shop
6. How does one download RINEX data ?
This is accessed online through the reference data shop to registered users
7. Connection issues in the field:
a. Rover set is not connecting to the internet
- Confirm that you are subscribed to an internet bundle
- Check internet settings e.g. APN (Access Port Name) for MTN & Airtel is internet
b. Rover is connecting to the internet but is not connecting to the CORS
- Check account status following prompts on our USSD (*217*90#) or online using link https://payments.survnet.ug/
- Check protocol (Should be NTRIP/CORS)
- Check the IP address and port or username and password
c. Rover is connected to the CORS, but no correction data is received
Check the streaming correction format (RTCM, CMR, CMR+ etcetera)
d. Rover is receiving correction data, but has intermittent drop outs
Change to a stable internet connection
8. How do I access the system for realtime corrections ?
Register with us on https://register.survnet.ug and follow steps as described in answers to question 1 above.
9. Can I use one username for more than one rover set ?
YES, one username can be subscribed to more than one device but this has to be done at the time of subscription. In other words a username already subscribed for one device cannot be reconfigured to accept more than one device until the subscription has expired. (During subscription the system prompts for the “number of surveying devices”)

Any brand of Equipment can be used to access SURVNET CORS network as long as it is has capabilities for NTRIP / Internet modem settings.
11. What horizontal and vertical datum does the SURVNET CORS network use ?
The system is primarily configured upon ITRF2008.
The client can also use a coordinate system of their choice and the system guarantees precision & repeatability within the network area.
Observations can also be taken in Arc1960 when the user field software is configured to receive RTCM corrections (system transformation parameters) from the CORS server. When this mode is employed, SURVNET guarantees accuracy ±15cm in the districts of Jinja, Kamuli, Kampala, Luweero, Mpigi, Mukono, Wakiso and ±30cm in districts of Gomba, Masaka, Mityana & Mubende. (These accuracy statements are as verified by SURVNET TEAM)
12. How do I configure a field software to accept correction/ transformation parameters from SURVNET CORS Network ?
This is achieved by allowing the field software to receive RTCM coordinate Transformation messages (1021-1027). Some software label it “broadcast datum”.
CHC’s Landstar7 enables these corrections via editing an NTRIP work mode switching the 1021-1027 parameters to yes as shown in the picture below.
13. Which constellations does the SURVNET CORS network use/ track ?
GPS, GLONASS, BEI-DOU, GALILEO, and SBAS
14. How far from the CORS station can I work to obtain optimum results ?
Optimum results can be achieved when working within the boundaries of the CORS network as shown on our coverage map as well as not more than 50 Km away from a physical station outside the network.
